Junior Guide / Multi-Adventure Week |
Description:
The week will focus on teaching campers the skills necessary to have a meaningful outdoor experience while remaining environmentally friendly as well as guide a raft will be taught during this intense week. Skills include map and compass reading, trip preparation and planning, food preparation and storage, knot tying, first aid and safety, environmental hazards, ecology, minimum impact camping, outdoor hazards, and weather. This week provides the opportunity for older and veteran campers to experience class IV white water action at the Lower Youghiogheny in Ohiopyle PA and New River Gorge Nation Park in Fayetteville, WV. Campers will begin on the Shenandoah River in Harpers Ferry and then travel on to a rustic campsite in Ohiopyle PA to prepare for a day surfing the stellar waves of the Lower Youghiogheny River. After all the fun at the Yough, it’s straight down to Fayetteville WV to get a nights rest under the stars. The next days will be full of rock climbing and repelling, ducky trips on the Upper New, rafting on the Lower, and lake games. Campers looking for extreme outdoor excitement need only apply! The trip will be run in conjuction with our partners at ACE in Fayetteville, WV. This camp will be the ultimate thrill of your child’s summer and will help build their confidence and character as well as allow them to enjoy the outdoors, and gain a sense of accomplishment while having fun and building new friendships. Campers who successfully complete this week will be eligible for employment at River Riders at age 16. |

| Times: Monday drop off & Friday pickup Drop off is from 8-9 am and pick up is from 4:30-5:30 pm unless other arrangements are made. |

| Liability Waiver: Liability Waivers must be read and completed for each camper. |
| Notes: Campers will be divided according to age and ability levels for activities. Staff members trained in each specific activity will accompany campers. Minimum age of 12. |
