Adventure Weeks

Trip: Adventure Weeks
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: Adventure weeks occur every other week and are the core of our summer camp program. Each week will incorporate a different educational theme such as Geology, Botany, Ornithology, History, and Ecology into all of the activities offered at River Riders, including white water rafting, kayaking, tubing, canoeing, biking and hiking! This summer you camper will take pleasure in all of our sunsational activities and accumulate a base of knowledge about earth related topics.
Minimum age is 9 years. Grades 4-11

Dates:
June 9-13, 2008 (Geology)
June 23-27, 2008 (Trees & Plants) (Thursday Overnight option)
July 7-11, 2008 (Wildlife)
July 14-18, 2008 (Birds)
July 28-August 1, 2008 (History) (All Week Overnight)
August 11-15, 2008 (Ecology)

Duration: 5 days with overnight option some weeks

 

hiking and biking week

Trip: Adventure Road Trip Week
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV
Description: This is a typical Adventure Week with a day trip on Thursday to the Luray Caverns and the garden maze. Campers will participate in all the activities offered by River Riders with a mid week trip to the Luray, VA for out of town exploration and fun.
Minimum age is 9. Grades 4-11.
Dates: June 16-20, 2008
Duration: 5 days

 

Overnight Adventure Week

Trip: Overnight Adventure Week
River: Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV

Description: Overnight Week incorporates overnight camping in the nearby cabins at FLOC Outdoor Education Center with all the Adventure Week Favorites
Minimum age 9.

Dates: July 28-August 1, 2008
Duration: 5 days , 4 nights

 

kayak week

Trip: Kayak Intensive Week
River: Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers
Location: Harpers Ferry, WV

Description: Kayak intensive week focuses on learning to whitewater kayak. This is a physically challenging week that will develop campers kayaking abilities. Campers who develop the skills will be paddling decked whitewater kayaks by the end of the week.
Minimum age 11.

Dates: July 21-25, 2008
Duration: 5 days

 

New River Adventure

Trip: Junior Guide / Multi-Adventure Week
Location: Harpers Ferry and Fayetteville, WV

Description: This week provides the opportunity for older and veteran campers to experience class IV white water action at the Lower Youghiogheny in Ohiopyle PA and New River Gorge Nation Park in Fayetteville, WV. Campers will begin on the Shenandoah River in Harpers Ferry and then travel on to Ohiopyle, PA to spend the day on the Lower Youghiogheny River. After the Yough, they'll head to Fayetteville, WV to spend the next 3 days rock climbing and repelling, ducky trips on the Upper New, rafting on the Lower, and lake games.
Minimum age for this week is 12.

Dates: August 4-8, 2008
Duration: 5 days including 4 overnights
